Reds select Steele with their first pick of the 2025 MLB Draft

CINCINNATI - Cincinnati Reds Director of Amateur Scouting Joe Katuska tonight announced the selection of INF Steele Hall (6-0, 180, R/R) out of Hewitt-Trussville High School (AL) with the team's first pick (9th overall) of the 2025 MLB Draft.

Hall, 17, was named Alabama's Mr. Baseball after slashing .484/.554/.871 (60-for-124) with 8 homers, 14 doubles, and 35 RBI as a junior at Hewitt-Trussville High School in 2025. He is the first Alabama prep middle infielder to be selected in the 1st round since 1971 (Condredge Holloway, 4th overall).

Hall transferred to Hewitt-Trussville after spending his first 3 years of high school at Daphne High School (AL). As a sophomore in 2024, he batted .331 with 31 stolen bases.

Hall is rated as the 12th-best player in the draft by MLB.com and the 15th-best prospect by Baseball America. He was also ranked as the top player in the state of Alabama and the 17th-best player in the nation by Perfect Game. Hall had previously committed to the University of Tennessee prior to being drafted.

The Reds will complete the first day of the draft by selecting 51st (second round) and 83rd (third round).
