COLLEGE STATION, Tx. (WMDJ) — Kentucky pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the young college football season Saturday, knocking off No. 9 Texas A&M 31-21 at Kyle Field.

The Wildcats and Aggies went into halftime tied at seven before Kentucky took complete control in the third quarter, scoring 21 unanswered points. Kentucky piled up 196 yards of offense in the period while holding Texas A&M to around 20, turning a tied game into a 28-7 advantage.

Quarterback Kenny Minchey delivered his best performance of the season, completing 14 of 18 passes for 252 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. He connected with Kenny Darby for a 42-yard touchdown to open the second-half scoring, while CJ Baxter added two rushing touchdowns.

The offensive line also turned in a much-improved performance, giving Minchey time to push the ball downfield and helping Kentucky finish with 408 total yards.

DJ Miller led the Wildcats with five catches for 96 yards. Darby finished with 64 receiving yards and a touchdown, while Henry Boyer added a touchdown reception.

Kentucky's defense came up with two interceptions of Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed. Sam Greene made the first, while Jordan Castell's fourth-quarter interception helped shut down an Aggies comeback attempt. Adam Zouagui added a 52-yard field goal in the fourth quarter to stretch Kentucky's lead back to three scores.

Kentucky improves to 2-1 and picks up its first SEC and ranked win of the season. The Wildcats return home next Saturday to face South Alabama at 12:45 p.m.
