CINCINNATI, Oh. (WMDJ) — Tarik Skubal kept Cincinnati’s offense quiet Monday night as the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Reds 4-1 in the opener of a four-game series.

Skubal allowed just three hits across seven scoreless innings, striking out nine and walking one.

Los Angeles managed only three hits itself, but made them count. Kyle Tucker opened the scoring with a solo home run in the second inning before Teoscar Hernández added a two-run homer in the fourth. Enrique Hernández drove in another run with a seventh-inning single.

Nick Lodolo worked seven innings for Cincinnati, allowing four runs on three hits while striking out four.

The Reds finished with only four hits and went 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position. Elly De La Cruz provided Cincinnati’s only run with his 27th home run of the season in the ninth.
