LOS ANGELES, Ca. (WMDJ) — The Cincinnati Reds came up just short Tuesday night, falling 3-2 to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the second game of their three-game series.
Los Angeles jumped ahead on Will Smith’s solo home run in the first inning and added another run in the second.
Elly De La Cruz erased the deficit in the third, blasting his 25th home run of the season, a two-run shot that scored Dane Myers and tied the game at 2-2.
Speaking of De La Cruz, he made one of the most impressive throws you'll ever see from just beyond the infield at center. In the bottom of the third, Teoscar Hernández hit a triple and tried to make his way home but De La Cruz threw him out on a relay throw from just beyond the infield into center at home plate. According to the broadcast, the throw was measured at 105.3 mph.
The Dodgers regained the lead in the fifth when Teoscar Hernández singled home Mookie Betts, and Cincinnati was held scoreless the rest of the way.
De La Cruz finished 2-for-4 with both Reds RBIs. Nick Lodolo allowed three runs over 4? innings in the loss.
Cincinnati will try to avoid the series sweep tonight. First pitch is set for 10:10 p.m., with pregame coverage beginning at 9:40 p.m. on WMDJ FM 100.1.
