LOS ANGELES, Ca. (WMDJ) — The Cincinnati Reds jumped out early but could not overcome a costly middle-inning stretch in a 6-3 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers Monday night.

Elly De La Cruz gave Cincinnati a 1-0 lead with his 24th home run of the season in the first inning.

The game turned in the fifth when a throwing error by Ke’Bryan Hayes allowed two Dodgers runs to score. Los Angeles broke it open an inning later when Teoscar Hernández hit a three-run homer for a 5-1 advantage.

Eugenio Suárez answered with his 22nd homer in the seventh, while Dane Myers drove home Héctor Rodríguez in the eighth.

Cincinnati finished with seven hits but struck out 14 times. Brandon Williamson took the loss, allowing six runs, three earned, over 4? innings.

The Reds and Dodgers continue the series Tuesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 10:10 p.m., with pregame coverage beginning at 9:40 p.m. on WMDJ FM 100.1.
