CINCINNATI, Oh. (WMDJ) — The Cincinnati Reds used three solo home runs Saturday to knock off the first-place Milwaukee Brewers 5-3 at Great American Ball Park.

Milwaukee struck first on a William Contreras homer, but Elly De La Cruz answered in the bottom of the first with his 22nd home run of the season.

Jose Trevino tied the game at 2-2 with an RBI single in the fourth before Tyler Stephenson gave Cincinnati its first lead with a solo homer in the sixth.

After Milwaukee tied it in the seventh, Matt McLain responded with his 15th homer to put Cincinnati back in front, 4-3. Eugenio Suárez added an insurance run on a wild pitch in the eighth.

Cincinnati finished with 12 hits, while Emilio Pagán earned his 21st save.

The Reds have now split the first two games of the series. Sunday’s rubber match begins at 12:10 p.m., with WMDJ pregame coverage at 11:40 a.m.
