PHOENIX, Ariz. (WMDJ) — The Cincinnati Reds had a night to forget Friday as the Arizona Diamondbacks rolled to a 9-0 win in the opening game of their weekend series at Chase Field.
Arizona jumped on Reds starter Nick Lodolo early, scoring six runs over the first four innings. Jordan Lawlar delivered the biggest blow with a two-run homer in the second and finished with three hits and three RBIs.
Lodolo allowed six runs on 10 hits over 3 1/3 innings as he fell to 3-3 on the season.
Cincinnati managed just four hits and went 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position. The Reds were outhit 15-4 and never advanced a runner across the plate.
The Reds will try to bounce back Saturday night in Phoenix. First pitch is set for 8:10 p.m., with pregame coverage beginning at 7:40 p.m. on WMDJ FM 100.1.
