CINCINNATI, Oh. (WMDJ) — The Cincinnati Reds have put together a winning streak.

Matt McLain homered, Noelvi Marte drove in the go-ahead run and the Reds held off the Athletics, 3-2, Wednesday night at Great American Ball Park for their third consecutive victory.

Lawrence Butler opened the game with a leadoff home run, but Cincinnati answered in the second when Jose Trevino singled home Marte.

McLain gave the Reds their first lead with a solo home run in the fifth, his ninth of the season. Oakland tied the game on Jonah Heim’s RBI double in the sixth.

The Reds regained the lead in the bottom half. Sal Stewart singled and advanced to third on a Dane Myers base hit before scoring on Marte’s sacrifice fly.

Rhett Lowder allowed two runs on four hits over six innings to earn the win. The Cincinnati bullpen retired all nine batters it faced, with Emilio Pagán pitching a perfect ninth for his 13th save.

The Reds improved to 55-58 and will go for the series sweep Thursday afternoon. First pitch is set for 12:40 p.m., with pregame coverage beginning at 12:10 on WMDJ FM 100.1.
