CINCINNATI, Oh. (WMDJ) — The Cincinnati Reds were held to three hits Saturday night as the Pittsburgh Pirates picked up a 4-1 victory at Great American Ball Park after a lenghty rain delay.

Pittsburgh broke through with three runs in the third inning. Bryan Reynolds drew a bases-loaded walk before two additional runs scored on a sacrifice fly and a fielder’s choice.

José Trevino supplied Cincinnati’s only run with a solo home run in the fifth, his fourth of the season. The Pirates restored their three-run advantage in the sixth when Henry Davis singled home Marcell Ozuna.

Reds starter Andrew Abbott lost command on the mound and allowed three runs on three hits over five innings. He walked five and struck out one while falling to 5-7 on the season. 

Pittsburgh starter Braxton Ashcraft held Cincinnati to two hits and one run across five innings. The Pirates’ bullpen then allowed only one hit over four scoreless frames.

The Reds struck out 10 times and finished 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position.

Cincinnati will still have an opportunity to win the series Sunday afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 1:40 p.m., with pregame coverage beginning at 1:10 on WMDJ FM 100.1.
