DENVER, Colo. (WMDJ) — The Cincinnati Reds powered their way to a series victory Sunday, belting four home runs in a 9-6 win over the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.

Cincinnati wasted little time taking control, scoring five runs in the first inning. Nathaniel Lowe launched a three-run homer before Tyler Stephenson added a two-run shot to give the Reds an early 5-0 lead.

After Hunter Goodman answered with a solo home run for Colorado, the Reds struck again in the second when Sal Stewart crushed a three-run homer to extend the advantage to 8-1.

Stephenson added his second home run of the afternoon with a solo blast in the fifth inning to make it 9-1.

The Rockies made things interesting late behind a historic day from Goodman, who hit three home runs and drove in five runs. He connected in the first, sixth and eighth innings before Willi Castro added a solo homer in the ninth, but Cincinnati's bullpen held on to secure the victory.

Hunter Greene earned the win after allowing three runs on four hits while striking out seven over six innings.

The Reds improve to 45-53 and now head to Seattle for a three-game series against the Mariners. First pitch Monday night is scheduled for 9:40 p.m., with pregame coverage beginning at 9:10 p.m. on WMDJ FM 100.1.
