DENVER, Colo. (WMDJ) — The Reds dug themselves an early hole Saturday afternoon, allowing eight runs over the first three innings in a 10-3 loss to the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.
Colorado scored twice in the first inning before breaking the game open with four runs in the second and two more in the third. Rhett Lowder lasted just 2? innings, allowing eight earned runs on 11 hits while striking out two. The loss dropped him to 3-7 on the season.
Jose Trevino provided nearly all of Cincinnati's offense, going 3-for-4 with two solo home runs, his second and third of the season. Nathaniel Lowe added an RBI single in the seventh, while Elly De La Cruz tripled and Noelvi Marte doubled.
Julian Garcia helped stabilize the game with 2? scoreless innings out of the bullpen, but Caleb Ferguson later surrendered a two-run homer to TJ Rumfield in the sixth. Sam Moll and Pierce Johnson each followed with a scoreless inning.
The Reds collected nine hits but managed just one hit in five at-bats with runners in scoring position. Colorado, meanwhile, capitalized on nearly every opportunity, finishing 8-for-14 with runners in scoring position.
