MILWAUKEE, Wi. (WMDJ) — The Reds' struggles against Milwaukee continued Tuesday night as the Brewers rolled to a 7-2 victory at American Family Field.
Sal Stewart provided Cincinnati's offense, leading off the game with his 16th home run of the season before adding an RBI double in the sixth. Stewart finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Elly De La Cruz also had two hits and scored a run.
Milwaukee broke the game open with a four-run fourth inning, highlighted by RBI singles from Sal Frelick, Joey Ortiz and Jackson Chourio. Jake Bauers added a solo homer in the fifth, and Chourio capped the scoring with a home run in the eighth.
Rhett Lowder took the loss after allowing six runs on 11 hits over 4.2 innings. He struck out eight. Brandon Sproat earned the win for Milwaukee, limiting Cincinnati to two runs over 5.1 innings while striking out seven.
Ivan Johnson made his major league debut for the Reds, striking out in his lone pinch-hit appearance.
The loss drops Cincinnati to 39-45 on the season. The Reds and Brewers continue their four-game series Wednesday night, with first pitch scheduled for 8:10 p.m. Pregame coverage begins at 7:40 on WMDJ FM 100.1.
