Reds Drop Series Opener In St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (WMDJ) — The Cincinnati Reds jumped out to an early lead Friday night, but the St. Louis Cardinals rallied for a 10-3 win in the series opener.

 

Cincinnati scored three runs in the first inning. Sal Stewart doubled in Blake Dunn and Spencer Steer to make it 2-0. Eugenio Suárez followed with an RBI single to score Stewart and give the Reds a 3-0 lead.

 

St. Louis answered with two runs in the bottom of the first, then tied the game in the third on a solo home run by Alec Burleson.

 

The Cardinals took the lead in the fifth on an RBI double by Jordan Walker, then broke the game open with six runs in the sixth inning.

 

Brady Singer took the loss for Cincinnati, allowing four runs, one earned, over four innings.
