PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (WMDJ) — The Cincinnati Reds picked up their second win in a row Wednesday, beating the Philadelphia Phillies 9-4 to win the series.
Nathaniel Lowe helped lead the Reds offense, driving in three runs with a pair of doubles. Sal Stewart also had a big night, going 4-for-5 with three runs scored, two RBIs and a two-run homer in the ninth.
Cincinnati answered an early Phillies run with three runs in the second inning. Lowe doubled in Stewart, Will Benson brought home Spencer Steer on a groundout, and P.J. Higgins added an RBI single.
The Reds stretched the lead to 5-1 before Philadelphia made it a one-run game in the sixth on home runs by Alec Bohm and Edmundo Sosa. Cincinnati responded in the seventh, when Lowe doubled home JJ Bleday and Stewart to make it 7-4.
Andrew Abbott earned the win, allowing two runs, one earned, over 5.1 innings.
With the win, the Reds move back into fourth place in the NL Central. Cincinnati is off Thursday before returning home to Great American Ball Park for a weekend series against the St. Louis Cardinals beginning Friday night.
