CINCINNATI, Oh. (WMDJ) — The Cincinnati Reds rallied from an early deficit Thursday afternoon, beating the Colorado Rockies 6-4 in the final game of their three game series.
Colorado jumped ahead in the first inning on Tyler Freeman’s two-run homer, but Cincinnati answered in the second with a solo shot from Nathaniel Lowe.
The Reds took the lead in the fifth when TJ Friedl hit a two-run homer, scoring Spencer Steer to make it 3-2. Steer added an RBI single in the sixth, then drove in another run with a double in the eighth. Dane Myers also brought in a run on a groundout.
Andrew Abbott earned the win for Cincinnati, allowing two runs on five hits over six innings while striking out five. The Reds bullpen held Colorado scoreless until the ninth, when the Rockies scored twice before Cincinnati closed out the win.
Steer led the Reds at the plate with two hits and two RBIs. Lowe also had two hits and scored twice.
The Reds will open a three-game series Friday in Pittsburgh against the Pirates at PNC Park. Coverage begins at 6:15 p.m., with first pitch scheduled for 6:45 on WMDJ-FM 100.1.
