Reds Beat Rockies Behind Big Night From De La Cruz

CINCINNATI, Oh. (WMDJ) — Elly De La Cruz drove in four runs as the Cincinnati Reds beat the Colorado Rockies 7-2.

 

De La Cruz went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and two RBI singles. Spencer Steer added a two-run home run in the first inning, helping Cincinnati jump out to an early 3-0 lead.

 

Dane Myers scored three runs and finished with two hits for the Reds. Nathaniel Lowe also had two hits and drove in a run.

 

Colorado cut the lead to 4-2 in the fifth, but Cincinnati added three more runs in the eighth to pull away.

 

Reds starter Chase Burns earned the win, allowing two runs on seven hits over six innings. Burns struck out nine and walked one.

 

Kyle Freeland took the loss for Colorado after giving up four runs over five innings.

 

The Reds finished with seven runs on 11 hits.

 

Tomorrow, the Reds and Rockies resume their series at Great American Ballpark at 6:10 PM for pregame coverage and first pitch is scheduled for 6:40 PM on WMDJ FM 100.1
