Reds power past Giants with four home runs in 8-3 win

CINCINNATI, Oh. (WMDJ)  — The Cincinnati Reds used a big night at the plate to roll past the San Francisco Giants 8-3.

Cincinnati jumped out early with a four-run first inning. Sal Stewart delivered a three-run home run to right-center, and Eugenio Suárez followed with a solo shot to make it 4-0.

San Francisco answered in the second with a two-run double from Daniel Susac, but the Reds quickly pulled away again. Stewart struck for his second three-run homer of the game in the bottom of the second, extending the lead to 7-2.

Elly De La Cruz added a solo home run in the fourth to cap the scoring for Cincinnati.

Stewart led the Reds with six RBIs on two home runs, while Suárez finished with three hits. De La Cruz also drove in a run and scored twice.

On the mound, Rhett Lowder earned his second win of the season, allowing three runs over 6.2 innings. The Reds bullpen held the Giants in check the rest of the way.

Cincinnati is now tied for first place in the NL Central divison with the Pittsburgh Pirates with an 11-7 record.

Game three of the series is a business man's special tomorrow afternoon from Great American Ballpark with a 12:40 pm start time with the Inside Pitch coming on at 12:10 pm on WMDJ FM 100.1.
