CINCINNATI, Oh. (WMDJ) — The Cincinnati Reds used the long ball to slip past the San Francisco Giants 2-1 on Tuesday night.
All three runs in the game came on solo home runs.
Spencer Steer got the Reds on the board in the third inning with a solo shot to left-center. Sal Stewart added what proved to be the difference in the fourth, sending another solo homer to right-center to make it 2-0.
San Francisco answered in the fifth inning when Willy Adames connected on a solo home run to cut the lead to 2-1, but that would be all the offense the Giants could muster.
Cincinnati finished with just three hits, but made them count. Steer and Stewart each drove in a run.
On the mound, Brady Singer earned the win, allowing one run over six innings. The Reds bullpen handled the rest, with Emilio Pagán picking up the save.
San Francisco outhit Cincinnati 7-3 in the loss.
The Reds continue the series tomorrow on WMDJ FM 100.1. The Inside Pitch pregame show will start at 6:10 PM and first pitch is scheduled for 6:40 PM.
