Angels run over Reds, 10-2

CINCINNATI, Oh. (WMDJ) — The Cincinnati Reds couldn’t keep pace with the Los Angeles Angels, falling 10-2 after a late-game surge broke things open.

The Angels struck first in the second inning on an RBI walk from Adam Frazier, then added another in the third on a Yoán Moncada RBI single. Zach Neto extended the lead in the fourth with a two-run home run to make it 4-0.

Cincinnati got on the board in the fifth when TJ Friedl drove in a run on a groundout, but that’s as close as the Reds would get.

Josh Lowe added a solo home run in the sixth for Los Angeles, and the game turned decisively in the eighth. Mike Trout drew an RBI walk before Jorge Soler delivered the biggest swing of the night with a grand slam to push the lead to 10-1.

Elly De La Cruz provided a bright spot for Cincinnati, going 1-for-3 with a home run, a walk, and an RBI. Eugenio Suárez led the Reds with two hits, while the team finished with just four hits overall.

Reds starter Chase Burns took the loss, allowing five runs on seven hits over 5.1 innings. The bullpen struggled in the eighth, combining to give up five runs in the frame.

The Reds and Angels will meet again tomorrow at Great American Ballpark. First pitch is set for 4:10 p.m., with the Inside Pitch pregame show beginning at 3:40 p.m. on WMDJ FM 100.1.
