ARLINGTON, Tx. (WMDJ) — The Cincinnati Reds wrapped up a 2-1 win over the Texas Rangers, completing a three-game series sweep and marking their best 9-game start in five years at 6-3.
The Reds struck first on an RBI single from Eugenio Suárez, bringing home Elly De La Cruz for a 1-0 lead.
Texas answered in the seventh inning with a solo home run from Joc Pederson to tie the game.
Cincinnati responded in the eighth, when De La Cruz delivered an RBI single to right field to score Matt McClain and give the Reds the lead for good.
Starting pitcher Chase Burns was strong on the mound, allowing one run on five hits over six innings while striking out nine.
The bullpen held firm the rest of the way, with Brock Burke earning his first career save to close it out.
Cincinnati now heads to Miami to open a four game series against the Marlins at loanDepot Park. Pregame coverage begins at 6:10 p.m., with the Inside Pitch scheduled for 6:40 p.m. on WMDJ FM 100.1.
