EASTERN, Ky. (WMDJ) — Floyd Central and Shelby Valley combined for 22 made three-pointers Friday night, but when the final buzzer sounded, it was the Jaguars who claimed the 64-60 win over the Wildcats.
The win improved the Jaguars to 21-5 overall on the season and completed a perfect 8-0 mark at home.
Senior guard Chris Spriggs was named WMDJ Floyd County Player of the Game. Spriggs scored a game-high 29 points, one shy of his career-high, and connected on seven three-point attempts. He also grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.
Spriggs was joined in double figures by freshman Lucas Howard, who finished with 11 points, and fellow senior Dylan Boyd, who scored 10.
Caden Johnson led Shelby Valley with 27 points. Brady Johnson, who was named the KABC 15th Region Player of the Year on Friday, and Gavin Hamilton each scored 17.
Floyd Central will next play on Tuesday, February 24th in the semifinals of the 58th District tournament against Prestonsburg.
