GATLINBURG, Tenn. (WMDJ) - The Floyd Central boys and girls basketball teams both fell in opening round play of the Smoky Mountain Winter Classic at Gatlinburg-Pittman High School on Thursday evening.
The Floyd Central boys lost to host Gatlinburg-Pittman, 77-53. The Jaguars (4-4) have now lost three straight and four of their last five games.
Junior guard Chris Spriggs did not play due to reaggravating a prior injury.
Gatlinburg-Pittman was led by Ty Glasper, who dropped 48-points and connected on 12 3-point baskets. The Highlanders improved their record to (13-3) on the season.
The Lady Jaguars lost in overtime to 4th region foe Clinton County (6-4) 58-53. Floyd Central falls to (5-2).
It was the second time the Lady Jags had faced to Lady Bulldogs in the Smoky Mountain tournament. Floyd Central defeated Clinton County in the event back in 2022.
