FORT MEYERS, Fl. (WMDJ) – The National High School Baseball Coaches Association has awarded Floyd Central High School with the National High School Baseball Field of the Year Award.
The award recognizes excellence in field maintenance, design, and overall facility management, placing Floyd Central High School’s field among the nation’s elite high school baseball fields.
The award was presented to Floyd Central Baseball Coach Byron Patton and members of his staff, Frank Martin and Ryan Pennington, during the NHSBCA’s annual conference awards ceremony in Fort Myers, Florida on December 6th.
Coach Byron Patton expressed gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing the effort of his entire team, which has worked tirelessly to make the field one of the best in the country.
Photos of the field’s unique design went viral earlier this year online, displaying the rock wall batter’s eye of the mountainside that was blasted to help create the field in 2016.
