LEXINGTON, Ky. (WMDJ) – There will be an all-mountain matchup when the greatest show in hoops begins in March.

The Boys' Sweet 16 pairings were drawn Monday. 

Opening round games on Wednesday, March 20th will feature the 15th Region champion vs. the champion of the 14th region. Other matchups in opening round play include: Region 8 vs. Region 11, Region 16 vs. Region 2 and Region 5 vs. Region 1.

The matchups on Thursday will pit Region 13 vs. Region 4, Region 9 vs. Region 10, Region 12 vs. Region 7 and Region 3 vs. Region 6.

Quarterfinals will be played Friday, March 22nd with the semifinals and championship on Saturday, March 23rd. Times for games will be announced at a later date.

The Girls' Sweet 16 will begin on Wednesday, March 13th at Rupp Arena. Here are the pairings for opening day: Region 4 vs. Region 14, Region 1 vs. Region 16, Region 6 vs. Region 8, Region 11 vs. Region 13. 

The champion of the 15th Region will face the champion from the 5th region on day 2 of opening round play on Thursday, March 14th. Bethlehem is a 3-time defending 5th Region champion and a heavy favorite to repeat as champions this season.

Other matchups on the girls side on Thursday include: Region 10 vs. Region 7, Region 9 vs. Region 12 and Region 3 vs. Region 2.  

Girls quarterfinals will be played Friday, March 15th with the semifinals and championship on Saturday, March 16th.
