PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WMDJ) — A 37-year-old man faces seven charges after police say he failed to stop for an officer and resisted arrest in Prestonsburg Saturday.
According to an arrest citation, an officer responded to a reckless-driving complaint near Walmart on October 17.
Police say Willie Adkins was driving on KY 114 when an officer attempted to stop him near the Mountain Arts Center. Adkins allegedly continued another 3.7 miles before stopping on Dixie Drive.
The citation states Adkins repeatedly refused commands after exiting his truck. An officer deployed a Taser twice before taking him into custody.
Adkins was taken to a hospital for medical evaluation before being lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center.
He faces charges including first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-offense DUI, resisting arrest, reckless driving and three additional vehicle-related offenses.
Police say Adkins admitted drinking and driving. A blood sample was submitted for testing.
