EASTERN, Ky. (WMDJ) — Floyd County Schools says its 2026 Kentucky Summative Assessment results show more Green overall accountability categories and a second consecutive year of increased reading and mathematics achievement status across elementary, middle and high school grade bands.
The district’s October 15 release reports five Green categories and one Blue this year, compared with three Green and one Blue the previous year. The Green list includes Duff-Allen Central Middle, John M. Stumbo Middle, May Valley Middle and Floyd Central High School, as well as the district’s high-school-level category. John M. Stumbo Elementary was listed as Blue. The district says overall ratings reflect multiple accountability measures, not achievement alone.
Among the reported subject rankings, Floyd Central High School ranked 36th in state reading among 228 schools; May Valley Middle ranked 38th in social studies among 312; and Duff-Allen Central Middle ranked 50th in writing among 312. May Valley Middle’s overall average ranked 57th among 318 schools. The district also reports 24 school-level subject-proficiency comparisons above state levels, and says Duff-Allen Central Middle and May Valley Middle exceeded state proficiency in all five listed subjects.
The release says high-school reading proficiency and the district’s graduation rate were above state levels. Postsecondary readiness improved across all high schools and the district. The high-school-level rating moved from Yellow to Green, while elementary status increased but remained Yellow and middle remained Yellow.
No district school received a Comprehensive School Improvement classification, the release says. One unnamed school remains identified for Additional Targeted Support and Improvement.
