LOUISA, Ky. (WMDJ) – Two Virginia residents were arrested early Thursday after police reported finding marijuana and marijuana vape cartridges in a rental car during a traffic stop near Louisa.

A state trooper stopped Abigail Dickenson, 29, of Castlewood, after reportedly clocking her at 56 mph in a 55 mph zone on U.S. 23. Ja’juan Calis Williams, 30, also of Castlewood, was a passenger.

According to police, the trooper smelled marijuana, and Dickenson acknowledged having a small amount for personal use. She declined to consent to a search. A K-9 unit was called to the scene and alerted on the vehicle.

Police said a subsequent search uncovered three duffel bags containing vacuum-sealed marijuana and another containing marijuana vape cartridges in the trunk.

Both were charged with trafficking in more than five pounds of marijuana and currently lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville.
