FRANKFORT, Ky. (WMDJ) – Kentucky has created a new state office to support musicians, venues, festivals and music businesses while celebrating the commonwealth’s musical heritage.
 

Gov. Andy Beshear announced the Governor’s Office of Music on Friday at Bourbon & Beyond after signing an executive order establishing it.
 

Kentucky’s musical heritage includes artists such as Loretta Lynn, Chris Stapleton, The Judds, Dwight Yoakam and Ricky Skaggs to name a few.

A new website, kymusic.ky.gov, includes the Kentucky Music Industry Directory. Artists, venues, festivals and music businesses are encouraged to register to connect with others across the state.
 

Sebastian Kitchen, deputy secretary of the Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet, will serve as executive director.
 

The state also plans to offer a “Kentucky: Sounds Like Home” license plate celebrating Kentucky’s music legacy.
