LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WMDJ) — Former Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin will remain behind bars after a Jefferson County judge ordered him Friday to serve a 60-day jail sentence for contempt of court.

Bevin appeared in Jefferson Family Court following his arrest Thursday evening in Bourbon County. Judge Angela Johnson denied bond and ordered Bevin to serve the sentence contained in an arrest order issued June 5.

The warrant stemmed from Bevin’s alleged failure to comply with court orders requiring him to turn over financial records in an ongoing case involving his divorce and child support.

Bevin has been the subject of several arrest warrants in the case this year, although earlier warrants were either stayed or recalled.

Bourbon County authorities arrested Bevin Thursday after receiving information about his location. He was reportedly working as an extra on a Christmas movie set in Paris at the time and cooperated with deputies.

Bevin remains in custody in the Louisville Metro Detention Center.
