Former Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin Arrested

PARIS, Ky. (WMDJ) — Former Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin was arrested Thursday evening in Bourbon County and later booked into the Louisville Metro Detention Center.

The detention center lists Bevin’s offense as contempt of court, with the charge description stating “libel/slander resistance to order.”

Bevin has been the subject of multiple arrest warrants this year in an ongoing Jefferson County court case involving his divorce, financial records and child support.

One warrant issued in March was later stayed, while another issued in May was recalled after Bevin paid a contempt fine.

A new arrest order was issued June 5 after Bevin allegedly failed to comply with a court order requiring him to produce financial records. That warrant remained active prior to Thursday’s arrest.

Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding Bevin’s arrest.
