PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WMDJ) — Two Prestonsburg parents have been charged following an investigation that resulted in three children being placed in protective custody.
According to citations filed by Prestonsburg Police, Robert L. Adams and Cassandra M. Adams were each charged with second-degree wanton endangerment following an investigation Tuesday at a home on East Harris Street.
Police said the investigation began after an 8-year-old student at Prestonsburg Elementary was found with injuries the child reportedly said were caused by a dog. Social Services was contacted, and an officer accompanied a social worker to the residence.
The citations allege officers found unsanitary and unsafe living conditions inside the home. Police said three children, ages 15, 8 and 3, were living at the residence and were placed in protective custody.
Both parents were arrested. A court trial for both parents is set for Novemeber 10 in Floyd County District Court.
