PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WMDJ) — Kentucky State Police Post 9 has released its list of approved traffic safety checkpoint locations in Floyd County and surrounding counties.

KSP says checkpoints may be conducted periodically as part of efforts to improve roadway safety and discourage violations of Kentucky traffic laws.

Troopers may check for impaired driving, valid driver's licenses, vehicle registration and insurance, as well as equipment violations. Other violations or public safety issues encountered during a checkpoint may also be addressed.
