EASTERN, Ky. (WMDJ) — Kentucky State Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a McDowell man over the weekend.

KSP Post 9 says the crash happened around 1:53 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, on Kentucky Route 680 in the Eastern community.

According to the preliminary investigation, 48-year-old Christopher Smith was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo southbound when the vehicle left the roadway and overturned.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police Post 9.
