PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WMDJ) — A large crowd gathered Thursday morning as the City of Prestonsburg officially renamed the West Prestonsburg trailhead of the Prestonsburg Passage in honor of longtime local fitness and adventure tourism advocate Don Fields.
The trailhead is now known as the Don Fields Trailhead.
Fields, owner of Pro-Fitness MultiSports in Prestonsburg, has been a longtime supporter of fitness and outdoor recreation in the area. He has also played a role in several of the city’s tourism initiatives, including the Prestonsburg Passage and Levisa Fork Paddlefest.
Mayor Rick Hughes thanked those who attended the dedication, along with Prestonsburg Tourism, City Council, the bicycling community and Fields’ friends and family.
Hughes also recognized Richie Schoolcraft and the staff at Archer Park, along with Jeremiah Watson and the Public Works staff, for their work preparing for the event.
