LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WMDJ) — Commonwealth Credit Union President and CEO Karen Harbin has received the Wendell Lyons Advocacy in Action Award for her work representing credit unions at the state and national levels.
Harbin received the honor during Kentucky’s Credit Unions VISION 2026 Annual Meeting & Convention.
The award recognizes credit union leaders who have demonstrated strong grassroots advocacy, developed relationships with policymakers and worked to advance issues important to credit unions and their members. The award is not presented every year.
Harbin has been involved in legislative and regulatory advocacy throughout her career and currently serves as chair of the America’s Credit Unions Board. In that role, she has encouraged credit union leaders and employees to share the experiences of their members with lawmakers when discussing financial policy.
Harbin credited credit union professionals across the country for their collective advocacy efforts and said the award reflects their work to support members and communities.
Commonwealth Credit Union said it will continue working with policymakers on issues affecting credit unions and the financial well-being of the people they serve.
