HAROLD, Ky. (WMDJ) — A Floyd County man was arrested after allegedly fleeing police on a dirt bike that had been reported stolen from a Pikeville business.
Floyd County sheriff’s deputies, Kentucky State Police and Pikeville Police went to a residence along Ky. 979 in Harold shortly after midnight Thursday while attempting to locate 21-year-old Joshawa “Jagger” Bevins.
Police were looking to question Bevins in connection with a dirt bike reported stolen from McCoy Motorsports in Pikeville the previous day.
According to an arrest citation, officers found the dirt bike at the residence before Bevins allegedly jumped on it and fled despite commands to stop.
While searching for Bevins, deputies learned the dirt bike had nearly struck one person and had struck another vehicle. The bike was later found abandoned against a guardrail.
Floyd County Sheriff’s Office K9 Bear was deployed and tracked Bevins through brush and thickets. Bear eventually caught up with Bevins and apprehended him by the forearm, allowing officers to take him into custody.
Bevins was taken for medical treatment following the arrest.
He was cited on charges of second-degree fleeing or evading police in a motor vehicle, second-degree fleeing or evading police on foot, first-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest.
