Paintsville Teen Earns National Honor for Bluegrass Song

PAINTSVILLE, Ky. (WMDJ) — A young Eastern Kentucky musician has received national recognition for her work in bluegrass music.

Fourteen-year-old Adalyn Ramey of Paintsville won Bluegrass Song of the Year at the Hollywood Independent Music Awards for “Angel at the Crossroads.”

Music has been part of Ramey’s life since early childhood. She began singing in church around the age of two and grew up listening to bluegrass, including music played by her father, Philip Ramey, who plays guitar.

Her upbringing in Eastern Kentucky and exposure to Appalachian music have remained part of her musical path as she has continued recording and performing with support from her family and producers.

Ramey now has trips planned across the country as she continues pursuing her music career. Her music and upcoming work can also be found through her Facebook page.
