GARRETT, Ky. (WMDJ) — A Floyd County man was arrested Tuesday after deputies executing a search warrant in the Rock Fork community allegedly found 13 grams of suspected carfentanil.
According to a Floyd County Sheriff’s Department citation, deputies were serving a warrant at a home on Old Rock Fork Church Road when they encountered 50-year-old Stephen Moore outside the residence.
Deputies allege Moore ran from officers and attempted to discard a cigarette pack containing gray powder before he was taken into custody. The citation says Moore identified the substance as carfentanil.
During a search of the residence, deputies reported finding additional white, pink and gray powder that was also suspected to be carfentanil. Investigators said the substances weighed a combined 13 grams. Cash in various denominations was also reportedly found.
Moore is charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance involving carfentanil or fentanyl derivatives and first-degree fleeing or evading police on foot.
He was lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center.
