PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WMDJ) — Firefighters responded Monday to a reported gas leak on Moss Caniff Branch in Prestonsburg.

Cow Creek Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene, with Allen Volunteer Fire Department assisting through mutual aid.

Firefighters located a hole in the gas line and were able to bring the leak under control. Diversified Gas was contacted and responded to address the damaged line.

Residents and motorists were initially asked to avoid the area while emergency crews worked at the scene.

The incident was brought under control Monday afternoon.
