PAINTSVILLE, Ky. (WMDJ) — Two men were arrested early Friday morning after Paintsville Police responded to a reported assault at Elite Apartments.

Police said children at the scene told officers 26-year-old Carmehino Gonzalez had locked their mother inside a bedroom and would not let her out.

Officers forced their way into the room after Gonzalez allegedly refused to open the door. Police said he was holding a knife and refused commands to drop it before officers used a Taser to take him into custody.

The woman told police Gonzalez had struck her several times in the face and head and had also assaulted her daughter.

Gonzalez faces several charges, including assault, unlawful imprisonment, wanton endangerment, resisting arrest and menacing.

Jimenez Gitano, 23, of Paintsville, was also arrested after police say he tried to interfere with Gonzalez’s arrest. Gitano was charged with obstructing governmental operations, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, public intoxication and menacing.
