BEVINSVILLE, Ky. (WMDJ) — A deputy with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Floyd County woman Friday after allegedly finding suspected fentanyl while serving a warrant at a Bevinsville residence.

According to an arrest citation, the deputy went to a home along Kentucky Route 122 on Aug. 7 to serve an arrest warrant on another person. While inside, they encountered 55-year-old Sheryl Johnson.

The deputy reported seeing two sets of scales with white residue, used syringes and an unlabeled pill bottle near Johnson. After receiving permission to search, they allegedly found an orange box beneath a mattress containing three baggies of fine white powder.

Johnson allegedly told the deputy the substance was fentanyl. The citation says the powder weighed approximately seven grams. The deputy also reported finding several empty plastic baggies and other drug paraphernalia.

Johnson was arrested and lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center on a charge of first-offense trafficking in a controlled substance involving fentanyl.
