LONDON, Ky. (WMDJ) — A former Floyd County school bus driver will remain in federal custody while awaiting trial on an attempted online enticement charge involving a minor.

A federal magistrate judge ordered Andrew D. Lewis detained Thursday, finding that no release conditions would reasonably assure the safety of the community.

According to the court’s findings, an FBI agent testified that two middle-school girls reported inappropriate conduct involving Lewis during a March bus route. Investigators later recovered a sexually explicit message involving a third middle-school girl.

The court said Lewis’s phone had been wiped after he was interviewed by school employees, and a forensic review found a search about deleting a phone’s contents.

The judge also cited concerns about Lewis having unsupervised internet access if released.

Lewis is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
