SALYERSVILLE, Ky. (WMDJ) — Kentucky State Police arrested a Magoffin County man Saturday after an alleged attack left his ex-wife with a head injury and bruising across her body.

Troopers were called to Wright Upholstery Road after reports of a fight outside a home. Police said the woman had already gone to a nearby residence for help and was awaiting an ambulance.

Investigators said Brian Pennington, 53, allegedly hit her with a wooden object and then punched her. Pennington left the scene but later contacted KSP and was stopped near the Lee City exit on the Mountain Parkway.

He was taken to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center and charged with second-degree assault.
