PAINTSVILLE, Ky. (WMDJ) — Two men were arrested Sunday following a vehicle pursuit in Johnson County that ended with state police disabling the vehicle.
Kentucky State Police said a sergeant attempted to stop a 1993 Chevrolet Silverado on U.S. 23 in Paintsville shortly before 11 a.m. The truck allegedly had no visible registration plate and excessive window tint.
Police said the driver failed to stop, leading troopers on a pursuit onto Kentucky Route 825. The pursuit ended after troopers used a Precision Immobilization Technique, commonly known as a PIT maneuver, to disable the truck.
The driver, Christopher Mollette of Martin County, and passenger, William Cantrell of Johnson County, were taken into custody.
During the investigation, troopers allegedly found more than $1,000 worth of suspected stolen AT&T communication line and tools believed to have been used to cut and remove it.
Mollette faces charges including first-degree fleeing or evading police, DUI, receiving stolen property, possession of burglary tools, resisting arrest and criminal mischief.
Cantrell is charged with receiving stolen property, possession of burglary tools and criminal littering.
Both men were lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
