PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WMDJ) — The Prestonsburg Police Department announced Friday afternoon that a fourth arrest had been made as part of Operation Safe Harbor.
Jesse Gent, 19, of Sherwood, Oregon, was arrested Thursday after police obtained warrants following an investigation into the alleged sexual abuse of a juvenile.
According to police, the investigation began after allegations involving a 16-year-old victim were reported. Investigators allege Gent was in a position of trust or authority over the juvenile when he committed third-degree sodomy.
The victim was interviewed by forensic staff at Judi’s Place for Kids, and search warrants were later obtained for Gent’s electronic devices. Police said the devices were turned over to a forensic analyst with the Pikeville Police Department.
Investigators learned Gent had left Kentucky after the investigation began but was expected to return. He was taken into custody upon his return and lodged in the Floyd County Detention Center.
The case remains under investigation.
