LEXINGTON, Ky. (WMDJ) — The final defendant in a federal drug trafficking case stemming from a 120 mph police chase through Floyd and Pike counties has been sentenced.

Ahmad Marques Moore, 27, of Akron, Ohio, was sentenced Friday to 180 months, or 15 years, in federal prison after pleading guilty to possession of more than 500 grams of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute. Court records show Moore will receive credit for the time he has spent in custody since his arrest in June 2024.

The case began after Kentucky State Police received information from a cooperating witness that a drug supplier known as "Face" was transporting methamphetamine and fentanyl from Akron, Ohio, to Pike County. Investigators later identified Moore as the suspected supplier and obtained a state search warrant for location data associated with his cellphone.

According to a federal affidavit, officers attempted to stop a Kia Optima after observing it speeding in Pike County. Instead, the vehicle fled, reaching speeds of more than 120 mph. During the pursuit, investigators said a package was thrown from the front passenger window. The chase was eventually terminated after the vehicle drove into oncoming traffic with its headlights off, creating a danger to the public.

Investigators later used the cellphone location data to locate the vehicle at a residence in the Shelbiana community, where Moore, identified as the driver, and front-seat passenger Dean Michael Blair, 25, of Snellville, Georgia, were taken into custody.

Troopers later recovered the discarded package in Floyd County. Laboratory testing determined it contained approximately 885 grams of methamphetamine and nearly 35 grams of fentanyl.

Moore and Blair pleaded guilty in February 2025 to possession of more than 500 grams of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute. Blair was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison in May 2025, while Moore received the 15-year sentence Friday after his sentencing was delayed.
