FRANKFORT, Ky. (WMDJ) — Pike and Wolfe counties are among three Kentucky counties newly certified as Recovery Ready Communities, a designation recognizing communities that have established coordinated systems for addiction prevention, treatment and recovery services.
Gov. Andy Beshear announced Thursday that Pike, Wolfe and Meade counties received the certification, bringing the statewide total to 42 Recovery Ready Communities.
According to the Governor's Office, Pike County's recovery efforts include partnerships with the Pike County Health Department, Mountain Comprehensive Care Center, BrightView, Spero Health and the UNITE Pike Coalition. Officials also highlighted The BEAR Healthcare Clinic for providing integrated addiction, behavioral health and mental health services.
In Wolfe County, officials cited collaboration between Wolfe Countians Against Drugs, Wolfe County Schools, public health agencies, law enforcement and regional recovery organizations. The county also offers school-based prevention programs, a permanent medication disposal site and expanded access to naloxone.
The Governor's Office said the newly certified counties expand access to addiction treatment and recovery services for more than 95,000 additional Kentuckians.
