PRESTONSBURG, Ky. (WMDJ) — A Floyd County man charged in a 2025 shooting involving his ex-wife appeared in Floyd Circuit Court on Thursday, but the case was delayed as his attorney said the defense is still awaiting discovery.
Ronald Ramsey is accused of opening fire on a vehicle carrying his ex-wife, her boyfriend and the couple's 16-year-old son while traveling on U.S. 23 near Harold in May 2025. Both adults were struck by gunfire and survived.
Ramsey is charged with two counts of attempted murder, one count of first-degree assault and one count of first-degree wanton endangerment.
During Thursday's hearing, Ramsey's attorney requested a continuance while awaiting discovery. Judge Johnny Ray Harris scheduled an informal pretrial for Sept. 24 and a formal pretrial for Oct. 1.
