FRANKFORT, Ky. (WMDJ) — Gov. Andy Beshear has announced a change within his administration as longtime senior advisor Rocky Adkins has left his position.
According to the governor's office, Adkins' final day was Friday, July 10. He had served as senior advisor since 2019 after previously spending more than three decades in the Kentucky House of Representatives, where he held leadership positions for both the majority and minority caucuses.
During his time in the administration, Adkins was involved in economic development efforts, disaster response and recovery, including following the devastating 2022 floods in Eastern Kentucky, as well as the state's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Replacing Adkins as senior advisor is Ray Perry, who has served as deputy secretary of the governor's executive cabinet since April. Before that, Perry was secretary of the Kentucky Public Protection Cabinet beginning in 2021.
No reason for Adkins' departure was announced.
