New dashboard gives public access to Kentucky opioid settlement spending

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WMDJ) — Kentuckians now have a new way to see how opioid settlement dollars are being used across the Commonwealth.

Attorney General Russell Coleman announced Tuesday the launch of an online dashboard that allows the public to view opioid abatement funding received by state and local governments, along with reported spending and grant awards.

The dashboard, developed in partnership with the University of Kentucky's Rapid Actionable Data for Response (RADOR) program, compiles information submitted by local governments and the Kentucky Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission.

According to the dashboard, Floyd County has received approximately $2.34 million in opioid settlement funding.

The online tool also includes information on Kentucky Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission grants awarded throughout the state, including 32 grants serving Floyd County, as well as funding reports submitted by local governments.

Under Kentucky law, communities receiving opioid settlement funds must submit annual reports detailing how the money is used. The dashboard will be updated regularly as new information becomes available.

Kentucky is expected to receive nearly $1 billion through settlements with opioid manufacturers and distributors. Half of those funds are administered through the Attorney General's Office and overseen by the Kentucky Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission.
